NIL Checklist for Parents & Players
- Confirm the current state-association and school NIL rules before signing.
- Do not accept compensation tied directly to athletic performance or enrollment decisions.
- Clearly disclose paid endorsements and material relationships.
- Save contracts, invoices, payment records, products received and related expenses.
- Plan for federal, state and self-employment tax obligations.
- Avoid agreements that transfer broad or permanent rights without professional review.
- Continue meeting academic, conduct and eligibility requirements.
